Abstract
Red list of the Tiger Beetles and Groundbeetles
of Rheinland-Pfalz and the Saarland
(Germany).
>The red data list includes a checklist
of all the 370 species of cicindelid and carabid beetles of Rheinland-Pfalz
and the Saarland that have been recorded in the area up to the present.
The endagered species are classified according to different categories;
the criteria for classification are based on the result obtained by the
working group "Rote Liste Carabiden Deutschlands": 0 (extinct ore missing)
to 3 (endangered), V (vulnerable), R (extremely rare, but apparently not
endangered at present), and D (situation unclear). 42% of all species are
attributed to the categories 0 - 3, a further 12% are regarded as vulnerable.
For 4% the situation is not clear, and 2% are extremely rare. 42% of all
species are considered not endangered. The largest proportions of endangered
species are observed in the inhabitants of dry grassland and heathland,
followed by the inhabitants of banks, dynamic riverside and other wetland
biotopes.
